Quality Engineer

BMZ USA, Inc. is a global manufacturer of advanced lithium-ion battery systems and part of the internationally recognized BMZ Group. We are currently seeking a Quality Engineer to join our team and play an important role in supporting product quality, supplier performance, and operational excellence within our manufacturing operation.

Position Summary

The Quality Engineer is responsible for monitoring material and product quality, resolving supplier-related quality issues, supporting production, and improving quality systems and processes. This role works closely with suppliers and internal teams to prevent defects, reduce variation, and support compliance with quality standards, including ISO 9001.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a primary contact for supplier quality issues and corrective actions
  • Investigate defects and quality concerns using root cause analysis and problem-solving tools such as 8D, 5 Why, and Ishikawa
  • Support and review APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, Cp/CPK, and MSA/Gage R amp;R
  • Lead and support supplier evaluations, audits, and improvement initiatives
  • Monitor supplier performance metrics including PPM, KPIs, and cost of poor quality
  • Support non-conforming material control, containment, quarantine, and disposition activities
  • Maintain quality records, specifications, and documentation
  • Assist with internal, supplier, customer, and certification audits
  • Support calibration systems and quality system documentation
  • Promote continuous improvement and defect prevention across the organization
Qualifications
  • Associate degree or at least 2 years of related quality experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience working with suppliers, manufacturing processes, and quality systems
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, and root cause analysis
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret technical requirements
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949
  • Experience with Lithium-Ion batteries
  • Knowledge of measurement systems such as Faro Arm
  • Bilingual skills are a plus

Work Environment

This position is based in a manufacturing environment and may require standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, and wearing required PPE such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and grounding equipment. Regular schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
