Physical Therapist Position at BMW Plant

Team Information:

The Injury Prevention and Industrial Rehab team is a division of Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System and consists of a team of 20+ health professionals that services the needs of BMW and other employers in our area. Together, as part of our specialized WorkHealthySC programming, we support over 1000 employers in the upstate. We specialize in onsite injury prevention, ergonomic, wellness, placement, and case management services in addition to provision of traditional Industrial Rehab services. Our service suite also includes a variety of functional testing options tailored to our individual employer needs. We are looking for highly skilled, dynamic, autonomous, problem-solving professionals that can successfully integrate and apply their skills and knowledge into a variety of unique settings including the BMW manufacturing floor.

Position Information:

This position will be based at the BMW Plant in Greer, SC and will provide interventions to maximize associate safety and health. The effectiveness in meeting these goals is evaluated through tracking of the following metrics: resolution rate, cost per claim, lost workdays per claim, and OSHA recordables. The ideal candidate is proficient with the practice of Injury Prevention and PT using a combined approach utilizing Direct Access and proactive OSHA-allowable 1st aid strategies that integrate ergonomics and biomechanics education. They are also proficient with traditional outpatient Physical Therapy service provision. They will complete other departmental activities as requested by the supervisor, manager, or director.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited physical therapist education program
  • Experience: One (1) year outpatient orthopedic experience, with worker's compensation and upper extremity focus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word)
  • License/Registration/Certifications: South Carolina PT License, CPR-AHA BLS

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred Education: MS/DPT in Physical Therapy
  • Preferred Experience: Three (3) or more years outpatient orthopedic experience, with worker's compensation and upper extremity focus, Industrial, manufacturing, or direct access experience (including familiarity with FCEs, EFTs, job analysis, and injury prevention)
  • Preferred License/Registration/Certifications: CEAS, OHP, CSCS, ATC, OCS, WorkWell, other ortho or industrial-based certifications

Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to all Standards of Behavior.
  • Performs accurate injury prevention evaluations/consults in the industrial setting according to program standards.
  • Performs full Industrial Product Line: Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE), Functional Job Analysis (FJA), Functional Job Descriptions, Pre-work Screens, and Work Conditioning, Risk Assessments, Placement Assessments, Injury Prevention as needed to support client needs.
  • Performs appropriate assessment and reassessment procedures based on accepted practice standards.
  • Completes timely and accurate documentation and billing according to practice standards.
  • Delegates to and supervises physical therapist assistants and support staff.
  • Collects and report data to justify current contract and grow the business.
  • Serves as a liaison between patients, associates, production managers, human resource managers, case managers, insurance claims agents, safety personnel, engineers, physicians, other providers, rehab peers, rehab nurses and employers to achieve successful return to work outcomes.
  • Attends departmental and hospital committees and meetings.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
