Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced I&C / BMS Construction Manager to oversee the installation, integration, and commissioning of instrumentation & controls (I&C) systems and building management systems (BMS) on a large-scale, mission-critical project. This role will be responsible for managing contractors, ensuring quality and safety standards are met, and driving the successful turnover of critical control systems.
Responsibilities
  • Lead on-site supervision of subcontractors installing I&C devices (sensors, transmitters, valves) and BMS infrastructure (controllers, panels, networks).
  • Coordinate interfaces between process utilities, electrical/mechanical systems, and IT/OT networks.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and industry standards.
  • Conduct daily walkdowns, inspections, and progress monitoring for I&C and BMS scopes.
  • Support functional testing, loop checks, and commissioning activities.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, redlines, and as-built documentation for I&C/BMS systems.
  • Partner with design teams, commissioning agents, and client representatives to resolve technical issues.
  • Track and report progress, risks, and mitigation strategies to project leadership.
  • Promote a safety-first culture with strict adherence to site EHS requirements.

Requirements
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of construction management experience with a strong focus on controls, automation, and building systems.
  • Proven background on mission-critical projects such as data centers, semiconductor fabs, or advanced manufacturing facilities.
  • Solid understanding of I&C systems (sensors, transmitters, PLC/DCS integration) and BMS platforms (Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, Schneider, Tridium Niagara, etc.).
  • Knowledge of communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, OPC) and networked control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, one-lines, control schematics, and mechanical/electrical drawings.
  • Strong project management skills with experience overseeing subcontractors, budgets, and schedules.
  • Proficiency with construction/project management tools (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, etc.).

Preferred
  • Commissioning or QA/QC experience with controls systems.
  • BICSI, PMP, or PE license in Electrical, Mechanical, or Controls Engineering.
  • Vendor certifications in BMS/I&C platforms.
