As the Senior Manager, Knowledge Management and Innovation, you will be redefining the practice and delivery of legal services. This role is ideal for individuals with a unique blend of technological proficiency and an innovative mindset. You will design and execute BMOโ€™s Legal & Regulatory Compliance (LRC) knowledge management and technology strategy. You will identify, implement, and train LRC members on current and new technologies, including digital workflow and process automation; enhanced legal research, contract analysis and reporting. You will foster a knowledge-sharing culture by increasing engagement and the use of tools and information resources. You will work with practice groups to evaluate and integrate new legal technology and oversee the group wide technology strategy and budget process and will serve as a primary liaison to Technology & Operations and Centralized Dispatch Support. This role is also accountable for specific business managed applications, including ensuring compliance with data governance guidelines.ย 

Key accountabilities

  • Reviews current systems to identify processes that can be automated or improved using technology.

  • Oversees the multi-year roadmap for technology, ensuring alignment to enterprise and LRC strategy, focusing on AI-driven technology solutions.

  • Identifies and implements process optimizations by leveraging automation and AI-driven tools to streamline workflows and reduce manual efforts.

  • Collaborates with Technology partners and vendors to implement new software and systems.

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the supplier relationships, ensuring the proactive management of applications, budgets, and system governance.

  • Designs and delivers training programs on existing and new technologies and reporting tools.

  • Establishes metrics to monitor and drive user adoption.

  • Stays abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to maintain competitiveness.

  • Acts as the Data Steward for effective data oversight, monitoring, and controls in alignment with data governance policies.

  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications

  • Typically 7+ years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree in a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Verbal & written communication skills โ€“ In-depth / Expert.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills โ€“ In-depth / Expert.

  • Influence skills - In-depth / Expert.

  • Collaboration and team skills; with a focus on cross-group collaboration - In- depth / Expert.

  • Advanced expertise in legal operations, legal technology tools and platforms, including Tymetrix, iManage, and related enterprise software, with a focus on leveraging system functionalities for operational efficiency.

  • Knowledge of data governance and management practices, supporting structured approaches to data quality, data integrity, and metadata management โ€“ In-depth / Expert

  • Change management experience or certification (e.g., Prosci, ADKAR) to facilitate technology adoption and promote user engagement across LRC is preferred.

  • Project management training or certification (e.g., PMP, Agile) to effectively lead cross-functional initiatives in knowledge management and data strategy.

  • Experience establishing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), using metrics to drive actionable insights and data-informed decisions.

  • Strong analytical, creative, and problem-solving skills to support innovation and strategy in legal operations and knowledge management.

Salary:

$102,000.00 - $190,000.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Groupโ€™s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Groupโ€™s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
