Job Details
Our company's ES GEIS CHD division is currently seeking a Sheet Metal Welder.
The hourly rate for this position is $25.89 per hour.
Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
What you'll do:
In this function you will:
Perform arc or acetylene welding of various parts.
Make adjustments as setting current; selecting electrodes, torch tips, flux, etc., to suit metal thickness, depth of penetration or size of piece; adjust pressure gauges to obtain flame setting.
Select filler rods to suit metal using care in puddling, avoiding pin holes, oxidization, brittleness, burning or excessive heat.
Block and clamp to maintain alignment, usually down hand welding, but may perform vertical and overhead welding as required working on various metals.
Weld dissimilar metals such as stainless steel and aluminum and perform various brazing.
Use heliarc welding and plasma cutting welding equipment.
Perform welding on Iron and Aluminum Castings as necessary.
Clean, grind, drill, patch sandblast, and shotblast castings using hand and power tools as necessary to prepare for welding.
Perform machine or hand torch burning of structural members or fabricated components as necessary.
Fabricate steel or aluminum panel racks of various sizes and weights.
Exercise care in the assembly of rigging and operation of overhead crane to move and position buss bars, rack frames, etc. during construction, and for transport of finished work out of department.
Operate fork truck as required or directed in performance of job duties.
Work from ladders or scaffolding as necessary.
May fabricate welding fixtures as directed to facilitate work.
Cut and strip wires and solder to electrical contacts.
Grind Iron and Aluminum castings when required.
Report all unusual conditions to the supervisor.
Maintain a clean, orderly and safe work area following standard practices and prescribed procedures.
Wear protective equipment, including air pac, as prescribed.
Duties involve application of some specialized knowledge and experience and the use of judgment to plan and perform sequence of operations or procedures within limits of standard or recognized methods and established precedent.
Qualifications:
Basic (Required) Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate.
• 2-3 years welding experience.
• No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate area of Syracuse, NY (50 miles) will be considered for this position.
• Our company will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position. This means that the company will not support any CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT plans, F-1 to H-1B, H-1B cap registration, O-1, E-3, TN status, I-485 job portability, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
