Job Summary
The Quality Control Technician I is responsible for sampling, testing, and reporting on construction materials-including but not limited to hot mix asphalt, aggregates, soils, and concrete-to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
Main Responsibilities
  • Perform precise testing and inspection of construction materials to guarantee quality and compliance
  • Accurately measure, document, and report test results in a timely manner
  • Develop proficiency in sampling, testing, and calculating values for asphalt, aggregates, and other materials
  • Identify product quality issues, troubleshoot problems, and implement corrective actions
  • Analyze test results to determine causes of nonconformities and recommend solutions
  • Gain competence in AASHTO, ASTM, and Caltrans test methods
  • Familiarize yourself with Green Book, FAA, Caltrans Standard Specifications, and other applicable regulations
  • Be flexible and available for overtime, including nights and weekends, as needed
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Valid CA Driver's License with an excellent driving record

  • Ability to be precise and accurate when taking measurements and completing test forms
  • Ability to follow direction with excellent follow through within a timely manner
  • Ability to learn specific QC computer programs
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. during various times of the day
