Job description

Index Sales Account Manager

Bloomberg is a global leader in business and financial information, news and insight, and we use innovative technology to deliver trusted data and bring transparency to the financial markets. Within the Bloomberg Financial Solutions vertical, Bloomberg Index Solutions Limited (BISL) offers a diverse range of fixed income, commodity, currency and equity indices. With extensive asset coverage, a strong history of innovation, and objective and transparent rules, Bloomberg indices are widely used as a source for portfolio construction and performance comparison. We offer an array of services to clients interested in custom index development, investable index products designed to offer access to systematic strategies, index administration and calculation agent services. Bloomberg indices are driven by the same trusted reference data, pricing and analytical calculations that are leveraged throughout the investment process.

What's the role?

As an Index Sales Account Manager, you will be responsible for the commercial success of a portfolio of Bloomberg Index clients. Working closely with Index Sales Relationship Managers, you will drive client adoption, retention, and revenue growth by developing strategic relationships and helping clients maximize the value they receive from Bloomberg Index solutions.

You will manage relationships across multiple clients developing a deep understanding of each client's workflow including, but not limited to, investment objectives, benchmark usage, and portfolio construction processes. Through a consultative sales approach, you will execute strategic account plans, identify opportunities to expand Bloomberg's footprint, and help clients solve increasingly complex investment challenges using Bloomberg Index solutions.

Success in this role requires strong commercial acumen, intellectual curiosity, and a passion for financial markets. You will collaborate extensively with Bloomberg Index Sales, Product, Engineering, Marketing, and other Bloomberg business units to deliver exceptional client experience while providing valuable market feedback that helps shape future product development. We'll trust you to:

  • Own the commercial success of a portfolio of clients by driving adoption, retention, and revenue growth across Bloomberg's Index business.
  • Build trusted relationships with key decision makers while developing a deep understanding of their investment objectives, benchmark usage, and investment workflows.
  • Execute strategic account plans in partnership with Index Sales Relationship Managers to increase wallet share, uncover expansion opportunities, and strengthen Bloomberg's commercial position within your assigned accounts.
  • Conduct consultative discussions on Bloomberg Index methodologies, benchmark construction, and investment applications while delivering product demonstrations, client education, and thought leadership.
  • Proactively identify commercial opportunities and risks within your portfolio, developing strategies to grow existing business and protect Bloomberg's market position.
  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and other Bloomberg business groups to deliver integrated client solutions while providing market intelligence that influences future product development.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of institutional investment trends and benchmark applications.
  • Represent Bloomberg at client meetings, industry conferences, and other events to strengthen relationships and support the continued growth of Bloomberg's Index business.
You'll need to have
  • Experience in a client-facing commercial role supporting institutional investors, with experience covering Asset Owners or investment management organizations preferred.
  • Knowledge of financial markets, investment products, benchmarks, indices, or institutional investment workflows.
  • A proven ability to build trusted client relationships while identifying opportunities to expand existing business and deliver commercial results.
  • A strong commercial mindset with a track record of meeting or exceeding business objectives.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of an organization.
  • Strong organizational and account management skills with the ability to prioritize across a diverse client portfolio.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a desire to understand investment strategies, portfolio construction, benchmark methodologies, and evolving market trends.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively across Sales, Product, Engineering, Marketing, and other cross-functional teams.
  • A proactive, self-motivated mindset with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

We work hard. We are ambitious and set tough business goals. We are a meritocracy where everyone has a voice - not a job title. Working with people you trust, respect, and can collaborate with is more important than titles or position. Things move fast, and we want people who will enjoy working in this environment and feed off the energy. But it isn't all about work. Giving back is one of our core values, and there are many ways to get involved in philanthropic initiatives from helping local school kids with their reading to helping clean up local parks and waterways.
