We are looking for a Senior Staff Engineer, Advanced Manufacturing to join our team in one of today's most exciting technologies. This role will report to Sr. Manager, Advanced Manufacturing and will be based in Fremont, CA. This is a fully on-site, in office role 5 days a week.
Role and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the design, build, test, and launch of proprietary Bloom Energy manufacturing equipment.
  • Lead design and supplier management of novel, fully custom automation systems designed for Bloom's manufacturing process.
  • Lead and support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) of Bloom equipment.
  • Collaborate with process and design teams to define equipment specifications.
  • Apply engineering fundamentals to automation and process design.
  • Collaborate with New Product Introduction (NPI) and Product Engineering teams to refine product design and improve manufacturability.
  • Oversee the entire equipment development lifecycle, from concept to manufacturing.
  • Oversee equipment build and test processes.
  • Ensure equipment quality assurance throughout development and implementation.
  • Work with facility and maintenance engineers to install and support equipment in the factory.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • BSc or advanced degree in mechanical, physics or related engineering field.
  • 6+ years of experience in equipment design, automation, and integration in high volume manufacturing and/or scale up
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and software systems.
  • Experience with supplier management and remote team collaboration.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 15%.
  • Familiar with process engineering fundamentals (Cp, CpK, etc.) and SPC.
  • Working proficiency in SolidWorks.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience in high-volume solar, back-end semiconductor and/or battery manufacturing machine design and process design.
  • Experience with handling thin ceramics.
  • Experience with dispensing and jetting of engineered inks and adhesives.
