Responsibilities

1) Provides Blood Banking testing support to the Clinical Laboratory Department. 2) Supervises the daily operation of the department. 3) Provides consultative services to the Technical and Medical Staff. 4) Oversees the Departments performance improvement program. 5) Participates in Hospital Interdisciplinary performance improvement initiatives such as Transfusion Committee. 6) Is responsible for the fiscal and technical management of the section. 7) Ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation agencies. 8) Assesses staff competency and completes performance evaluation in a timely manner. 9) Ensures the accuracy of patient results. 10) Reviews the quality control taking corrective action when test systems deviate from established performance specifications. 11) Ensures the performance and documentation of equipment maintenance and corrective actions. 12) Ensures the performance of proficiency samples are within established regulatory compliance. 13) Maintain policy and procedure manuals current. 14) Adheres to all departmental and hospital policies and procedures related to safety, infection control, emergency preparedness and human resources. 15) may be assigned responsibilities related to LIS and POC. 16) Other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned by the department manager/director.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING   Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or Biology, concentration in the Sciences. MT ASCP or equivalent Registration. Minimum of five (5) years of Blood Bank experience. New Jersey State approval to fill this role.

Saint Michaels Medical Center offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package that provides employees the flexibility to tailor benefits according to their individual needs. Our Total Rewards package includes, but is not limited to, paid time off, a 401K retirement plan, medical, dental, and vision coverage, tuition reimbursement, and many more voluntary benefit options.  Benefits may vary based on employment status, i.e. full-time, part-time, per diem or temporary.  A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $70,720.00 to $91,520.00 on an annualized basis. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
