Blog Manager information

What is a blog manager?

Blog Managers are professionals responsible for overseeing the planning, creation, publication, and promotion of blog content for a website or organization. They coordinate with writers, editors, and marketing teams to ensure content aligns with overall business goals and engages the target audience. Blog Managers also analyze performance metrics, optimize content for SEO, and implement strategies to grow readership and engagement. Their role combines content strategy, team management, editorial oversight, and digital marketing skills.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a blog manager?

To excel as a Blog Manager, you need expertise in content strategy, SEO, digital marketing, and strong written communication, often backed by a degree in communications, marketing, or journalism. Familiarity with content management systems like WordPress, analytics tools such as Google Analytics, and basic HTML/CSS is typically required. Exceptional organizational skills, creativity, and the ability to lead and collaborate with writers and designers help individuals stand out in this role. These skills are crucial for driving engagement, maintaining a consistent brand voice, and ensuring the blog achieves business objectives.

How does a blog manager typically collaborate with writers, editors, and marketing teams to ensure content aligns with brand goals?

A Blog Manager serves as the central coordinator between writers, editors, and marketing teams to ensure all content is consistent with brand messaging and strategic goals. They regularly hold planning meetings, assign topics, and provide editorial guidance to writers while working closely with editors for quality control. Additionally, Blog Managers collaborate with marketing teams to align blog content with broader campaigns, SEO strategies, and audience engagement initiatives. This cross-functional teamwork is essential for producing cohesive, impactful content that drives traffic and supports organizational objectives.

The main difference between a Blog Manager and a Content Writer is that the Blog Manager oversees the entire blog strategy, manages content teams, and ensures SEO optimization, while the Content Writer focuses on creating individual blog posts. The Blog Manager has broader responsibilities, including planning, editing, and analytics, whereas the Content Writer primarily produces content. Both roles require strong writing skills, but the Blog Manager also needs project management and SEO expertise.

About the Role

Expert Computer System is looking for a hands-on Marketing Generalist to own our marketing functions like end-to-end strategy, content, website, campaigns, social, and sales enablement. This role is for someone who can plan the calendar, write the copy, manage the website, run campaigns, and report on what's working, without a large team behind them. You'll translate technical IT, cybersecurity, and compliance topics into clear, compelling messaging for non-technical decision-makers.

What You'll Own

•Marketing strategy & calendar: Plan and run a practical marketing calendar across campaigns, content, email, social, events, and website updates aligned to sales goals and target industries.

•Content & website: Write blogs, web copy, email, case studies, sales collateral, and ad copy. Manage the ECS WordPress site, including SEO edits and landing pages.

•Campaigns & sales enablement: Build multi-channel lead-gen campaigns (email, LinkedIn, direct mail, events) and turn objections and differentiators into sales collateral, proposals, and one-pagers.

•Social & local presence: Manage LinkedIn, Google Business Profile, and other channels; build thought-leadership and client-education content; support reputation-building.

•Reporting & optimization: Track SEO, AEO, traffic, and engagement via Google Analytics and Search Console; turn data into next priorities, not just reports.

•AI & process: Use AI tools responsibly to speed up drafting and research, with full human review for accuracy, tone, and confidentiality.

Must Have

•Associate's or Bachelor’s in Marketing, business, communications, or any field.

•Certs (Google Analytics, HubSpot, Meta Blueprint) can substitute for a Bachelor’s degree.

•3–6 years of B2B marketing experience IT services, cybersecurity, SaaS, professional services or another consultative business preferred.

•Strong writing & editing across formats: website, email, social, blog, and sales collateral.

Project management skills juggling multiple campaigns and deadlines without dropping details.

•Experience supporting lead generation & campaigns, not just publishing content.

•Working knowledge of SEO, AEO/GEO, Google Business Profile, LinkedIn, and email marketing.

•Hands-on WordPress experience; comfortable in Canva, PowerPoint, and Word.

Google Analytics (GA4) and Google Search Console reading data and turning it into action.

•Skilled at turning technical or complex information into clear business messaging.

•Good judgment, initiative, and accountability to ask questions and follow through.

•Ability to work in-person at our Houston office 5 days/week.

Nice to Have

• MSP, IT services, cybersecurity, or compliance industry background.

• HubSpot, Ahrefs, or SEMrush experience.

• Webinar, trade show or event marketing support.

• Experience working directly with sales teams or executives.

• Basic video editing or presentation design skills.

Success in This Role Looks Like

• A current, visible marketing calendar with clear ownership of every priority.

• Campaigns and collateral are delivered on time and accurately messaged, reviewed by leadership, and practical enough to support prospecting, follow-up, proposals and client conversations.

•SEO, social and local presence steadily improving based on data.

Why Join Us?

•Opportunity to collaborate closely with executive leadership

•Exposure to diverse technologies and clients across industries.

•Culture rooted in integrity, professionalism, and service.

•Career growth in a rapidly expanding MSP.

Benefits
