Position Overview
What will you do: As a Microsoft Developer at FirstEnergy, you will join a leading edge, collaborative development team that works across the entire organization - enhancing existing applications, remediating production and technical issues, and building new business applications. Day-to-day work includes designing, developing, testing, and deploying full-stack solutions using Microsoft technologies, modern web frameworks, Agile delivery practices, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Enhance, troubleshoot, modernize, and support existing business applications while delivering new features that improve usability, reliability, and workflow.
  • Build, test, deploy, and support full-stack web applications and reusable components across on-premises IIS and Microsoft Azure environments.
  • Participate in requirements reviews, design discussions, code reviews, testing, release planning, Agile delivery, CI/CD, and production support activities.
  • Explore practical uses of AI-assisted development and agentic models to improve delivery workflows, developer productivity, code quality, and solution support.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Professional application development experience using .NET, C#, .NET Core, SQL, and modern web frameworks such as Angular or Blazor.
  • Expected experience by level: Level II - 2 years; Level III - 4 years; Level IV - 7 years.
  • Experience working and developing alongside relational databases.
  • Experience designing, enhancing, supporting, or modernizing maintainable applications using sound software engineering practices, design patterns, and reusable components.
  • Experience deploying or supporting applications hosted in Microsoft Azure, including Windows or Linux App Service Plans, and/or on premises in IIS.
  • Experience with Agile delivery practices and development tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub, GitLab, Jira, or similar platforms for source control, work management, builds, deployments, and defect tracking.
  • Strong written & verbal communication, collaboration, prioritization, and production-support skills, including the ability to work across teams, business partners, and technical workstreams and participate in on-call rotation.

Nice to Haves:
  • Experience with non-relational databases.
  • Experience with .NET MAUI and/or mobile application development.
  • Experience using modern developer productivity tools, including coding assistants, automation, and integrated platform capabilities to accelerate design, development, testing, documentation, and support activities.
