Job description

The Floor Supervisor - Poker & Blackjack assists the Shift Supervisor in overseeing daily operations of poker and blackjack games. This role ensures optimal performance, regulatory compliance, guest satisfaction, and financial success of the gaming floor. The position supports scheduling, promotion execution, game supervision, and team member development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assists the Manager in scheduling and monitoring dealer assignments across all shifts.
  • Supervises blackjack and poker games, ensuring accuracy of gameplay and payouts.
  • Verifies winning poker jackpots for compliance with tribal and state gaming regulations.
  • Monitors table activity, opens and closes games, and ensures adherence to house rules.
  • Applies written poker and blackjack rules in decision-making and game dispute resolution.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of poker and blackjack promotions.
  • Coordinates with other departments to meet Poker & Blackjack Room support needs.
  • Greets guests and ensures an exceptional gaming experience through attentive and responsive service.
  • Assists in planning and executing poker tournaments.
  • Ensures compliance with all internal controls, Title 31 procedures, and the Bank Secrecy Act.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of table games operations, house rules, and game procedures.
  • Adheres to departmental policies, procedures, and all applicable tribal, state, and federal laws.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position does have direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance or support to other team members.
  • Provides day-to-day leadership to dealers and support staff.
  • Participates in hiring, training, evaluating, coaching, and disciplining team members as needed.
  • Communicates job expectations, enforces grooming standards, and ensures compliance with performance and productivity metrics.
  • Promotes a safe, secure, and respectful work environment that supports personal and professional growth.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and act with professional discretion.
  • Strong knowledge of poker and blackjack operations, rules, and regulations.
  • Demonstrated leadership, administrative, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and resolve guest or staff issues tactfully and diplomatically.
  • High regard for guest service, teamwork, and operational excellence.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Completion of dealer school or formal training in poker and blackjack is required; additional coursework in business or hospitality is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in table games operations, including at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or dual rate role.
  • In-depth knowledge of poker and blackjack rules, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven ability to oversee live games, monitor dealer performance, and ensure fairness and compliance.
  • Strong leadership and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to manage player disputes and maintain game integrity.
  • Excellent communication and guest service skills in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a gaming license in accordance with regulatory requirements.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must successfully pass a background investigation and obtain and maintain a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, management, and guests.

  • Lifting and Carrying: Occasionally lifts and transports chip racks, cards, drop boxes, documentation, or signage weighing up to 25 pounds; may assist with table setup or fill/credit transactions.
  • Manual Dexterity: Frequently uses hands and fingers to handle chips, cards, paperwork, logs, and mobile or desktop devices used for floor operations and reporting.
  • Mobility: Continuously walks, stands, and moves between poker and blackjack tables throughout the gaming area to monitor game integrity, dealer performance, and guest interactions; must respond quickly to incidents or player inquiries in high-traffic areas.
  • Stationary Work: Occasionally remains stationary at a podium or floor station while completing paperwork, verifying transactions, or observing multiple games.
  • Tool Operation: Regular use of radios, table game accessories, fill/credit slips, surveillance monitors, computer terminals, and rating systems.
  • Visual Acuity: Requires excellent near and distance vision to observe gaming activity, assess chip counts, review cards, and complete documentation with precision; must remain alert to subtle player actions and dealer mechanics.
  • Working Conditions: Routinely operates in a high-energy, guest-facing casino environment with exposure to loud noise, bright lights, large crowds, and a smoking environment throughout poker and table games areas.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt and perform under pressure. The casino operates with moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment, requiring team members to work comfortably in these conditions.
WORKING HOURS:
Morongo Casino Resort & Spa operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; therefore, flexibility in scheduling is essential. Team members must be available to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Schedules are subject to change based on business needs and may include overtime, as well as work on both weekdays and weekends.
