Position Overview
We are looking for a dedicated Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Assistant Coach/Instructor to join the IMA team. The ideal candidate will embody our mission, vision, and core values while delivering exceptional Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instruction for both adults and kids. You will play a vital role in building a supportive, respectful training environment that motivates students to achieve their personal goals, whether for competition, fitness, or self-improvement.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and assist with engaging and safe BJJ classes for all skill levels (beginner to advanced).
  • Teach and assist with BJJ techniques with a focus on proper form, safety, and student progression.
  • Develop and deliver structured lesson plans for both youth and adult programs to ensure student development.
  • Build strong relationships with students and help them achieve their personal martial arts and fitness goals.
  • Provide individualized coaching and feedback to help students reach their full potential.
  • Use our gym management software to manage member check-ins, retail sales, and class enrollments.
  • Promote and sell memberships, retail products, and class packages.
  • Assist with gym tours and provide information to prospective members.
  • Promote classes through social media and other applications to drive engagement and membership growth.
  • Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive training environment that reflects IMAs mission, vision, and values.
  • Prepare students for competitions, if applicable, and offer guidance on training and strategy.
  • Assist in organizing events, seminars, and special classes to promote the gym and foster community.
  • Maintain professionalism and uphold IMAs standards of excellence both in and out of the gym.
  • Uphold IMAs core values in all interactions with members and staff.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of training equipment and facilities.
Qualifications
  • Rank/Experience: Blue Belt and higher. Previous coaching or teaching experience is strongly preferred.
  • Skills: Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion: Commitment to helping students of all ages and abilities succeed.
  • Ability to adapt teaching styles to meet diverse learning needs.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (preferred but not required).
