What is bitcoin?

Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency, a specific type of digital currency, that is decentralized and not overseen by any national government or reserve system. The technology of Bitcoin is based on the Blockchain model, which ensures that the currency is anonymous, impossible to track, and secure.
