Position Summary

Thales has a vacancy for a Maximo Designer to set up and configure our IBM Maximo Asset Management tool for the AJISS program. The Maximo application has been set up within AJISS following the technical specifications in the contract, however more work is needed to refine the configuration to suit the needs of our teams on the waterfront. Once the initial setup is deployed into production, this role will evaluate/implement change requests, support users, and perform routine administration/maintenance of the system.

Regulatory Compliance Requirement

This position requires direct or indirect access to hardware, software or technical information controlled under the Canadian Export Control List and/or the US the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). All applicants must be eligible or able to obtain authorization for such access.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Ability to update configurations such as fields, forms, lookups, and searches using Maximo's configuration tools (Application Designer, Database Configuration, Conditional UI, etc.). Knowledge of Maximo's security model, including security groups, user permissions, and authentication mechanisms.
  • Basic understanding of SQL for queries and troubleshooting (knowledge of DB2, Oracle, or SQL Server environments advantageous). Awareness of integration management (setting up/lite troubleshooting of interfaces, web services, and external systems) is desirable but not required.
  • Ability to conduct basic troubleshooting of application and integration issues, identifying root causes and either resolving or escalating as appropriate. Familiarity with report administration (e.g., BIRT Reports) desirable.
  • Knowledge of Maximo automation / scripting. Updating the configured asset model to better support AJISS processes.
  • Administer the application (patching, change/feature requests, support users)

Minimum Requirements: Skills, Experience, Education, Technical/Specialized Knowledge, Certifications, Language

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Formal training or certification in IBM Maximo Asset Management/Maximo aviation (preferred but not strictly required).
  • Minimum of 2-3 years' experience administering IBM Maximo in a production environment.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting an enterprise roll-out for IBM Maximo. Demonstrated experience supporting users in a helpdesk or super user capacity, handling day-to-day inquiries, issue resolution, and system troubleshooting.
  • Experience in performing routine system administration tasks, including user account management, security group assignment, and role-based access control. Practical involvement with Maximo configuration: adding/modifying domains, managing classifications, creating/modifying application screens using Application Designer.
  • Hands-on experience with workflow administration: activating, deactivating, and versioning workflows, as well as troubleshooting workflow failures. Familiarity with condition-based configurations, role assignments, and communication templates. Experience with data imports/exports, using Maximo Integration Framework (MIF) and/or tools such as Data Loader, is a plus.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to document processes, procedures, configuration changes, and support knowledge base articles.
  • Capable of training and supporting end users; acting as a liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting system upgrades, applying Maximo fix packs, and performing basic system testing (UAT, regression).
  • Exposure to Maximo industry solutions (e.g., Transportation, Utilities, Oil & Gas) is a plus.

The reference Total Target Compensation(TTC) market range for this position, inclusive of annual base salary and the variable compensation target, is between Total Target Cash 80,000.00 - 100,000 CDN Annual.
