Job description

The Pictsweet Company in Monte Alto, Texas is looking for general labors to join our team. New team members will works as a crew member preparing raw vegetables for processing.


  • Inspects, grades and sorts raw vegetables for preparing, processing, and freezing.
  • Examines, classifies and separates produce on conveyor belt according to grade, color, and size of product.
  • Discards cull (inferior or defective) items and foreign material such as metal, glass, wood, plastic,
  • stems, leaves, insects, etc.
  • Must notify superintendent, supervisor or QC Inspector immediately upon finding glass, rocks or animals (i.e. bird, rodent, amphibian, etc.)
  • May trim product with a knife or paring tool.
  • Maintains work area clean.
  • Will don personal protective equipment (PPE) before commencing work.
  • Follows all safety guidelines set forth by the Company.
  • May form or erect cases.
  • Manually closes case (folds flaps).
  • Seals case by running case thru tape machine.
  • Stamps date code on packed cases.
  • Manually stacks twelve (12) three-pound, twenty (20) and thirty (30) pound cases of product onto pallets in the tie and height pattern assigned that item.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read or interpret documents such as safety rules/signs, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures preferred, but not required.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions.

OTHER:

  1. Ability to work a 7-day week; including holidays.
  2. Ability to work a rotating shift if necessary.
  3. Must have reliable transportation.
