This is more than a legal role-you'll serve as a strategic business partner, working closely with leaders across North America to support commercial growth, operational excellence, and sound risk management. Reporting to the Senior Director, Lead Counsel for North American Drug Product, you'll provide practical legal guidance in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment where your advice directly influences business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with business leaders to identify, assess, and manage commercial, operational, regulatory, and legal risks while supporting strategic growth initiatives.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to stakeholders across Commercial, Operations, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Procurement, Finance, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Provide practical, business-focused legal counsel on complex commercial and operational matters.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including customer, supplier, development, and manufacturing contracts.
  • Lead contract strategy and dispute resolution by evaluating legal and business risks, negotiating solutions, and managing escalations.
  • Support strategic initiatives, including acquisitions, integrations, expansions, restructurings, and other transformational projects.
  • Identify opportunities to improve legal processes, increase operational efficiency, and strengthen risk management practices.
  • Collaborate with internal legal specialists and outside counsel on litigation, compliance, employment, intellectual property, privacy, and other specialized matters.
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of commercial legal experience, including in-house experience supporting life sciences, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, manufacturing, or related industries.
  • Strong experience partnering with business leaders in a dynamic, highly regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated success drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
  • Excellent business judgment with the ability to balance legal risk and commercial objectives while delivering practical, solution-oriented advice.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders, navigate ambiguity, and drive complex matters to resolution.
  • Experience improving business processes and managing outside counsel relationships.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with a strong commitment to ethics and integrity.
  • Bachelor's degree and JD from an accredited law school, active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar, and ability to travel approximately 10-20%.
