Electro-Active Technologies is developing Waste to X solutions, reducing pollution and generating hydrogen as a zero emission fuel, and other products from waste. This is a significant goal for clean cities of the future and state environmental managers. Many states are supporting organics diversion and clean fuel production goals, which is a vision Electro-Active is pursuing.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND REQUIREMENTS

Electro-Active is looking for an entry / Intermediate-level BioChemical Engineer to start immediately to assist with development and maintenance of bioelectrochemical devices such as electrolyzers for production of renewable hydrogen. You will join our growing team with a focus on developing and maintaining bioprocess system for microbial electrolysis reactors. The person will also assist in the execution of bioelectrolysis research projects and maintenance of reactors and analysis. The ideal candidate will have a highly successful academic record, experience in laboratory work related to bio/chemical, environmental or biosystems engineering, high attention to detail, and the capability to undertake independent research tasks. An interest in sustainability and next-generation renewable energy technology as well as desire to work in a dynamic, fast-pace startup environment is a plus.

JOB OVERVIEW
  • Design and maintain microbial electrolysis reactors.
  • Build electrolysis cells, stacks and pilot modules.
  • Test various process and system parameters to determine conversion and performance.
  • Assist in maintenance and troubleshooting of bioelectrochemical systems
  • Ensure data quality, monitoring and integrity of assigned experiments
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of bio/chemical engineering principles
  • Background in process engineering, biosystems engineering or relevant experience working with microbial systems preferred
  • Ability to conduct procedures as per protocols and instructions with precision and accuracy
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in bioelectrochemical systems R&D
  • Prototyping and hardware development experience for bioprocesses.
EDUCATION
  • Bachelorโ€™s or masterโ€™s degree in an engineering discipline (e.g. Biochemical Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering, BioSystems Engineering, Environmental Engineering).
