Position Summary & Description Summary The IUP College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM) invites applicants for a tenure track faculty teaching position in Biomedical Sciences beginning in the Fall of 2026.
The faculty will provide support for the organization, development, operationalization, and assessment of the clinically oriented biomedical science aspects of the educational curriculum from year 1 to 4 in the IUP College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM). The faculty member will work closely with the Dean's Office in the College of Osteopathic Medicine at IUP. Duties Develop and deliver biomedical sciences curriculum with an emphasis on clinically-oriented integration across foundational and systems-based courses Contribute to the design and implementation of course and system-level curricular objectives aligned with programmatic outcomes Participate in the development and teaching of the Foundations course in Year 1 Teach in face-to-face classroom and laboratory settings, including anatomy and related biomedical sciences, as appropriate to expertise Collaborate with faculty across biomedical, clinical, and osteopathic disciplines to support vertical and horizontal curriculum integration in Years 1-2 Contribute to clinically relevant biomedical science content in clinical clerkship syllabi in Years 3-4, as appropriate.
Participate in curriculum delivery, assessment, and continuous quality improvement activities as part of the COM's ongoing assessment program Engage in scholarly activity, research, and professional service consistent with expectations for tenure and promotion, with an emphasis on osteopathic medicine principles and practice Advise and mentor students regarding academic progress, professional development, and career planning Participate in faculty development activities and contribute to the educational mission of the College Demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, and collegiality in all academic and institutional responsibilities Perform other duties as assigned in support of the biomedical sciences curriculum and COM mission Other duties as assigned. Position Qualifications Position Qualifications Required Education, Experience and Certification: Terminal degree (i.e.: DO, MD, PhD, PharmD, EdD, DO/PhD or MD/PhD) Minimum three (1) year academic experience as a faculty member at an accredited US allopathic or osteopathic medical school, or other graduate or undergraduate program with proven experience teaching biomedical sciences in an accredited health-sciences or nursing program. Demonstrated excellence as faculty with experience in development of medical curricula and coursework in a clinically related program Additional coursework or degrees with a focus on medical education leadership and/or curriculum pedagogy and/or human anatomy (preferred) Knowledge,Skills,andAbilities: Demonstrate academic leadership, effective communication, and time management skills Team player Demonstrate ability to mentor and motivate peers Demonstrated leadership and productivity in the areas of clinical or professional service and education Good standing with all regulatory and governmental boards and agencies Demonstrated leadership and administrative experience in clinical, professional or educational settings, preferred The department seeks candidates whose teaching, research, or service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and inclusion in higher education
