Job Description

Join our Solar & Storage team as an Engineering Program Manager Intern and help bring innovative clean energy technologies to market. You'll support complex hardware programs for PV microinverters and ESS battery systems while gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced, collaborative environment alongside experienced program managers and cross-functional teams.

This internship is 5 days a week on-site in Reno, NV.

What You Will Do

  • Identify complex technical risks with engineering teams and collaborate cross functionally together to solve them

  • Track progress, schedules, and action items across hardware development programs

  • Create executive facing reports and updates using JIRA, Smartsheets, and Excel

  • Bring hardware, quality, and manufacturing engineering teams together to solve complex problems through prototype builds

  • Support compliance and quality activities related to hardware deliverables

  • Coordinate with teams to delivery prototype builds of next generation products

What You Will Learn

  • How program management drives complex hardware product development from concept through production.

  • How cross-functional teams (engineering, product, manufacturing, quality) collaborate in a real-world environment.

  • The fundamentals of clean energy product development for solar (PV) and energy storage (ESS).

  • Industry tools and practices for project tracking, risk management, and stakeholder communication.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-moving environment.

  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, team-based environment.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework or prior experience related to project management, systems engineering, or product development.

  • Exposure to JIRA or similar project tracking tools through coursework, prior internships, or personal projects.

  • Interest in clean energy technology, solar (PV), or energy storage (ESS).

  • Familiarity with engineering design or development processes.

  • Strong problem-solving instincts and comfort operating in ambiguity.

  • Prior internship, co-op, or project experience in an engineering or technical environment.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus.
