Job description

Title: Biomedical Engineer Scientist

Location: Milwaukee, WI 53209
Summary:

  • We are seeking a hands-on Biomedical Engineer Scientist to develop dry, liquid, and high-throughput screening (HTS) products supporting drug discovery and development workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop biochemical products in tablets, mini-tablets, sachets, vials, and 24/48/96/384-well plate formats.
  • Formulate buffers, reagents, excipients, stabilizers, and screening materials.
  • Optimize powder processing, tableting, dispensing, reconstitution, and product performance.
  • Develop and qualify automated solid/liquid dispensing and HTS plate workflows.
  • Conduct analytical and stability testing using HPLC/UPLC, LC-MS, UV-Vis, Karl Fischer, pH, dissolution, and related techniques.
  • Troubleshoot formulation, dispensing, plating, moisture, stability, and uniformity issues.
  • Prepare specifications, batch records, plate maps, protocols, development reports, and technology-transfer documentation.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Analytical, Manufacturing, Quality, Automation, and other technical teams.

Qualifications

  • PhD with relevant experience or MS with substantial industry experience in Biomedical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmaceutics, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field.
  • Hands-on experience in at least two areas: dry formulation, tableting, powder processing, biochemical reagent development, automated dispensing, or HTS plate preparation.
  • Experience with 24-, 48-, 96-, or 384-well plate workflows.
  • Knowledge of powder properties, excipients, solvent compatibility, moisture sensitivity, formulation stability, and packaging.
  • Ability to independently design experiments, develop prototypes, and establish transferable processes.

Preferred: Experience with HPLC/UPLC, LC-MS, Karl Fischer, DoE/QbD, automated dispensing, DMSO formulations, LIMS, plate-data management, stability studies, RUO/GLP/GMP, or technology transfer.
