Job description

Inova Loudoun Surgery Center is currently hiring a Full-Time Materials Manager. The ideal candidate should have extensive knowledge and previous experience, with a preference for those who also have a background in the Operating Room.

Job Responsibilities:

The Materials Manager oversees the end-to-end inventory lifecycle, encompassing procurement, receiving, verification, storage, payment processing, and distribution of supplies and equipment. This role collaborates cross-functionally with clinical and nursing staff, Biomedical Engineering, Accounts Payable, Infection Control, and Administration to ensure operational excellence. The Materials Manager plays a critical role in supporting the Surgery Center’s mission by driving quality improvement, cost savings, and operational efficiency.

Job Requirements:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in a healthcare facility, with preferred knowledge of medical supplies and purchasing systems
  • Previous ASC experience or Operating Room Nurse, preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Knowledge of compliance standards for Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) operations, including OSHA, AAAHC, and The Joint Commission requirements
  • Proficiency in inventory management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) processes for supply chain management
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working under deadlines with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Solid financial acumen, including knowledge of budgeting and inventory processes
  • Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, representatives, and other healthcare professionals
  • Strong background in supply chain management, particularly with operating room (OR) supplies
  • Expertise in inventory management, including establishing par levels and utilizing inventory management systems
  • Experience supervising materials staff, including onboarding and training materials assistants
  • Flexibility in scheduling to meet operational needs and complete tasks as required
  • Availability to support month-end and beginning-of-month inventory processes
  • Advanced organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong written/oral communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across departments
  • Proficient in English, including reading, writing, and speaking
