Department
The National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (NHMFL) and the Department of Chemical & Biomedical Engineering (CBE) at the Florida A&M University (FAMU)-Florida State University (FSU) College of Engineering invite applications from highly qualified individuals for a faculty position at the NHMFL with an academic home as a tenured or tenure-track faculty member in CBE through Florida State University.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate is expected to have a strong commitment to teaching excellence in undergraduate and graduate courses and participate in college and professional services.
Qualifications
Candidates must possess an earned Ph.D. in chemical or biomedical engineering, or a closely related discipline, and demonstrate documented potential for outstanding research, leadership, and education.

Faculty Information
The NHMFL is the world's premier magnet laboratory with state-of-the-art high magnetic field facilities and has a history in development and application of ultra-high field NMR and MRI/S magnets and instrumentation. The MR User Facility hosts hundreds of users from around the world each year. We are seeking candidates with expertise and research in magnetic resonance imaging although other application areas of NMR may be considered. The candidate will be expected to lead research efforts and user support at the NHMFL in MRI and NMR and be a full academic member with teaching duties in CBE. Successful candidates are expected to develop research programs that are recognized internationally with significant and sustained external funding, incorporate interdisciplinary collaboration with researchers across campus and through the NHMFL user program, and demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in education. Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and supervising undergraduate, graduate and post-doctoral researchers are expected.
CBE has a dynamic group of faculty members actively involved in research encompassing various areas of biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, and materials science and engineering. Several faculty members from CBE have laboratories and are affiliated with the NHMFL performing research in NMR and MRI. Successful candidates will have many opportunities to interact and collaborate with other programs at FSU including the College of Medicine, Institute of Molecular Biophysics, the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, and the Department of Physics and the FAMU College of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences.
The NHMFL is operated for the National Science Foundation by a collaboration of institutions comprising Florida State University, the University of Florida, and Los Alamos National Laboratory. The FAMU-FSU College of Engineering is the unique combination of two outstanding universities with overlapping but distinct missions - the nation's top Historically Black College/University and a Tier-1 top 20 public research university.
