What You Will Do:
We are currently searching for a Lab Manager to provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI). This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Bethesda, MD.
  • Support day-to-day laboratory operations, ensuring a well-organized, efficient, and productive research environment.

  • Maintain laboratory equipment, coordinate routine maintenance, calibration and repair schedules.

  • Develop and implement organizational systems for reagents, consumables, samples, and shared equipment.

  • Assist in onboarding new lab members and provide guidance on laboratory procedures and best practices.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for laboratory safety, ensuring compliance with NIH, NHLBI, and federal regulations governing biosafety, chemical safety, and radiation safety (if applicable).

  • Maintain and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS), chemical inventories, and biological material records.

  • Coordinate safety training for lab personnel and ensure timely completion of required certifications.

  • Conduct regular laboratory safety inspections and facilitate corrective actions as needed.

  • Liaise with NIH Safety and other regulatory bodies as required.

  • Ensure an organized and efficient laboratory space.

  • Manage procurement of laboratory supplies, reagents, and equipment.

  • Track and reconcile laboratory budgets and purchasing records in coordination with staff.

  • Maintain inventory systems to ensure critical supplies are always available.

  • Evaluate vendor relationships and identify opportunities for improved pricing or quality.

  • Perform and support a range of molecular biology and biochemistry techniques, including but not limited to (1) DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, cloning, and gel electrophoresis, (2) protein expression, purification, and analysis, (3) cell culture and transfection (as applicable); (4) preparation of buffers, reagents, and experimental solutions; (5) preparation of lab experimental materials.

  • Maintain detailed and accurate laboratory records and protocols.

What You Will Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, or a closely related field.

  • A minimum of SIX (6) years of laboratory experience.

  • Proficiency in core molecular biology and biochemistry techniques.

  • Demondstrated knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and regulatory compliance.

  • Ability to adapt to evolving research needs.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD "public trust"; candidates must receive approved adjudication prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an active public trust or suitability are preferred.

The annual salary range for this position is $98,000.00-$163,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
