Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington.

Perform routine work in a research laboratory committed to developing new approaches to eradicate metastatic breast cancer. The incumbent will work under the close supervision of the Lab Manager and other lab personnel. We are looking for applicants who will support our team and make sure the lab has what it needs to run smoothly. The effective Lab Aide will receive training in experimental methods in cancer biology to help grow into the responsibilities of this position.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in core laboratory organization, restocking and maintenance duties.
  • Prepare, weigh and dilute essential reagents according to specific instructions.
  • With support, learn and perform mammalian cell culturing, cloning, animal handling and microscopy.
  • Provide basic support to the laboratory and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent with an interest in the sciences.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior lab experience.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Algebraic fluency with basic lab math.
  • Effective time management skills, able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ideal candidate will be available for at least 8 hours per week.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $21.30 to $30.13 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.

Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position.
