Job description

EHS Lead

ENERGYneering Solutions Inc. (ESI), a TransTech Company, provides exceptional technical expertise in engineering and operations for the biogas utilization and management industries. Since 2007, ESI has specialized in design, construction, and operations for biogas projects that collectively produce over one million MWh of renewable electricity and over 50 million gallons of renewable vehicle fuel every year. The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Lead plays a key leadership role in promoting and advancing a proactive safety culture working closely with the EHS Manager and Operations Team. The role is to support the company's biogas sites and projects, including coaching Operations Leads and Supervisors on how to successfully implement, execute, and verify health & safety processes at their worksites within our OHSMS.

An ability to work independently, self-motivate, and communicate effectively with team members is a critical success factor to this position. ESI values continuous improvement and employee engagement. Consequently, we expect a Lead to build working relationships that foster open and honest feedback with supervisors and employees about how to optimize processes.

The EHS Lead will report to the EHS Manager.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Serve as SME and facilitator of our OHSMS and Safe System of Work
  • Conduct site visits to coach workers on how to implement new safety processes and sustain execution
  • Conduct learning-style audits to verify our sites apply good faith effort for OHSMS conformance and hazard control
  • Participate in our company-wide Safety Committee
  • Conduct onsite safety training
  • Facilitate engagement in our Safe System of Work and help sites improve their rate of safe behaviors by applying the Hierarchy of Controls to task execution
  • Assist sites and the EHS Manager with preparing proper documentation
  • Assist sites with obtaining proper PPE and safety equipment, ensuring proper training and usage
  • Conduct investigations that help prevent recurrence
  • Prepare clear and succinct corrective and preventive actions
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for employee compliance questions/concerns and influence safe behaviors
  • Conduct new employee safety orientations
  • Ability and willingness to travel 6 to 10 days per month
  • Support the development and implementation of new EHS programs, policies, and safety initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Competencies

Required:

  • Proficient in the use of technology including Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to solve problems and present findings in a clear, concise format
  • Ability to organize and execute projects
  • Valid driver's license for state of residence
  • Be legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship

Preferred:

  • Experience in energy or process industries
  • Ability to interpret P&ID
  • Proficiency in SmartSheet
  • Proficiency in safety information systems
Education & Experience

5+ years of applicable experience

Bachelor's degree in occupational safety or STEM

Salary: $75,000-90,000 (commensurate with experience)
