Job description

Overview

Within SSOE's Tool Install division, we specialize in the design and engineering of complex process equipment across semiconductor fabs and advanced manufacturing facilities. Our structural team plays a critical role in ensuring that every tool installation is built on a foundation of precision, safety, and technical excellence, from equipment support structures and seismic bracing to subfab framing and cleanroom modifications. Our structural designers work together with multi-discipline teams including mechanical, electrical, and process engineers to deliver fully integrated, installation-ready designs that meet our client's and industry standards.

We are seeking a Structural Designer to join our SEED Team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating, standardizing, and optimizing structural design packages for advanced semiconductor process tools and automated material handling systems (AMHS). This team establishes the base design templates that ensure OEM equipment seamlessly integrates into the fab’s physical layout, subfab, and cleanroom environments. You will bridge the gap between high-level facility architecture and tool-specific installation requirements, driving efficiency and reducing late-stage design changes.

AI and Innovation

At SSOE, we don't just talk about the future, we build it. As a leader in industry AI adoption, we empower our team to work smarter by providing responsible access to the industry leading AI Large Language Models, vibe-coding platforms, and securely integrating advanced tools into every role. From day one, you'll receive the training and support needed to leverage AI as a core tool for enhancing productivity, sparking creativity, and streamlining complex workflows.

Responsibilities
  • Efficiently interpret, extract and analyze various equipment vendors' technical documentation, design data, sketches, notes, and other input materials provided in English to prepare drawings and equipment layout on plan using AutoCAD.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and Revit to develop design templates, 3D models, drawing sheets, ensuring high levels of accuracy, data integrity, and cross-discipline coordination within the BIM environment.
  • Create and maintain AutoCAD drawing templates, blocks, and layer standards specific to semiconductor facility requirements
  • Stay current with Revit updates, BIM workflows, and emerging design technologies to drive innovation and efficiency within the department.
  • Apply discipline-specific design standards, codes, and best design practices.
  • Works under minimum supervision with work effort occasionally checked during progress and reviewed upon completion.
  • Stay super organized with time management to multitask and meet design deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to coordinate with project managers, leads, and other design disciplines. May have minimal external customer contact.
  • When project needs, provide on-site project observations or field measurements that are necessary to develop accurate design.
Qualifications
  • High school or associate degree with a focus on architectural design, engineering design or drafting.
  • 1-2+ years as a designer or drafter using AutoCAD or Revit to produce engineering or architectural design packages.
  • Prior experience within industrial design projects is a plus (Automotive, Manufacturing, Data Centers, Semiconductor industry).
  • High efficiency in AutoCAD
  • Experience with Revit (Structural design) is a strong plus.
  • Can go onsite to support field measurements and observation when projects need.
  • Salary Range: $50,000 - $70,000/year depending on location, education, depth of relevant experience, and any specialized licensure/certifications. Opportunity for ample rewards, leadership incentive components, and generous bonus opportunities.
  • Benefits: Includes comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, 401K retirement savings plan (with company matching), opportunities for professional development and training (including support for relevant licensure & certifications), and generous PTO & paid holidays.
