Summary
This is an on-site position in Gaithersburg, MD, and the available shifts are 10:30am - 7:00pm EST and 11:00am - 7:30pm EST
The Billing Support Specialist I is an entry-level position responsible for providing outstanding customer service to patients and healthcare providers regarding billing inquiries. This role supports the billing team by managing client and patient questions, resolving payment issues, and ensuring accurate data entry. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and passionate about helping others in a healthcare setting.
Job Responsibilities
  • Respond to patient and provider billing inquiries via phone and email, ensuring prompt and professional service.
  • Participate in a rotational schedule, alternating between managing inbound calls and handling emails, tickets, outbound calls, and problem resolution.
  • Enter and maintain accurate patient information in billing systems.
  • Review and process forms, including medical hold forms and faxes, and manage inbound/outbound queues.
  • Investigate and resolve basic billing discrepancies, process payments, refunds, and adjustments.
  • Maintain detailed records of customer interactions and transactions.
  • Collaborate with finance and customer service teams to support seamless billing operations.
  • Educate clients on general billing-related issues as needed.
  • Contact clients and insurance companies to obtain information for prior authorization and claim submission.
  • Navigate various payor types, including commercial/private payors, Medicare, and Medicaid.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute ideas to enhance billing procedures.

Your standard work schedule and hours will be established in collaboration with your leader and may be adjusted to align with evolving business needs.
