The Impact You Will Have:

Alliant Engineering, Inc., an award-winning engineering, land surveying, and construction services firm, is looking for a Billing Specialist to join our accounting team in downtown Minneapolis. This role works closely with Project Managers and the Accounting team to ensure billing complies with contract requirements, company policies, and client expectations. Our ideal candidate must have a positive attitude, be a team player, have a high level of interpersonal skills, and be able to be trusted to manage sensitive and confidential material.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and process client invoices in accordance with contract terms, fee schedules, and billing requirements.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers to review and approve invoices before issuance.
  • Assist with monitoring outstanding invoices and accounts receivable aging.
  • Ensure billing activities comply with company policies, contract requirements, and accounting procedures.
  • Coordinate with subconsultants to ensure invoices are accurate and meet our clients' requirements.
  • Partner with Accounting staff to ensure accurate project financial data.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to learn new technologies, tools, and platforms.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting or ERP software systems.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong communication/interpersonal skills
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment focused on operational excellence and client service.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Associate Degree in Accounting; Finance, or related field.
  • 2-5 years of billing, invoicing, accounts receivable, or accounting support experience
  • Prior billing experience within the construction/engineering industry
  • Experience with Deltek VantagePoint and billing portals. (Procore, BuildPro, Textura)
  • Familiarity with time-and-expense billing, fixed-fee contracts, and cost-plus billing arrangements.

The base pay for this position is expected to be in the range of $50,000 - $70,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
