Job description

What We Can Achieve Together:
The Writer/Editor is responsible for leading the development, writing, editing, and management of a portfolio of existing grants. This part-time, short-term position works collaboratively with development, conservation, and finance staff to secure and steward institutional funding that advances The Nature Conservancy's mission and strategic goals.
The Writer/Editor collaborates with program and finance staff to develop compelling grant proposals, oversee grant reporting and compliance requirements, maintain grant records and submission deadlines, and identify prospective funding opportunities. The Writer/Editor prepares proposals and reports, and translates programmatic and technical information into clear, persuasive narratives that strengthen relationships with current funders and help secure new sources of philanthropic support.

This is a part-time position (21 hours per week) with a six-week duration.
Responsibilities & Scope:
  • Manages multiple grant-writing and reporting, projects simultaneously and serve as project lead on assigned initiatives.
  • Ensures accountability for meeting project goals, deliverables, and deadlines.
  • Resolves complex issues in collaboration with Development and exercises sound judgment within the scope of assigned work.
  • Works collaboratively across departments to gather information, develop proposals, and ensure compliance with grant requirements.
  • Opportunity to act independently within established program goals and priorities.

What You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field and a minimum 7 years' related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience crafting organization- or company-wide communication tools, including branding.
  • Experience writing, editing and proofreading messages for targeted audiences.
  • Experience presenting to various audiences including some or all of the following: internal and external executives, donors, members, board members, and the public or equivalent.
  • Experience implementing, and managing multiple complex projects.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Multi-lingual skills appreciated.
  • Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience preferred.
  • Experience developing, implementing and measuring communication and engagement plans/strategies.
  • Experience in journalism or fundraising writing and editing.
  • Excellent writing, presentation, communication skills.
  • Familiarity with communication technologies and best practices.
  • Knowledge and application of current and evolving trends in relevant discipline.
  • Ability to manipulate, analyze and interpret data.

Salary Information:
The pay range for a candidate selected for this position is 2,395.04 on a biweekly basis. This applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate's actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
