Job description

We have an immediate need for an onsite bilingual Spanish Eligibility Specialist. This is a 3 month+ job (possible extension and possible temp to perm). This position helps uninsured and underinsured patients access financial assistance by assessing eligibility and guiding them through applications for Medicaid, Medicare, disability, charity care, and other programs. This role requires strong communication, empathy, and organizational skills to support patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct eligibility screenings and application support for financial aid programs
  • Liaise with patients, hospital staff, and agencies to secure coverage
  • Manage multiple cases, track progress, and follow up on applications
  • Assist with complex cases, including disability claims and appeals
  • Maintain accurate, HIPAA-compliant documentation
  • Support colleagues and assist with onboarding/training

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • 2+ years of Experience in healthcare revenue cycle or insurance verification/eligibility
  • Familiarity with Epic, Cerner, Meditech, and government assistance programs
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and billing practices
  • Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and handle sensitive information with care
