Job description

Position Summary/Purpose: Grand Canyon University (GCU) maintains relationships with nonprofit organizations identified by the IRS as 501(c)(3) by virtue of their charitable programs. The collective mission of 501(c)(3) organizations in the Phoenix Valley is to improve the quality of life for community residents or to solve particular problems related to those residents' needs.
GCU maintains a partnership with Free Bikes 4 Kidz (FB4K) located at 3120 W. Carefree Hwy, Suite 1798, Phoenix, AZ 85086. FB4K's mission is to health kids live happier, healthier lives by providing bikes to those most in need. The CSLP student worker's work schedule is dependent on the hours of operations and needs of [insert organization's name]; however, CSLP student workers may not work more than 20 hours per week during the academic year (i.e., fall/spring). If eligible, CSLP student workers can work during summer (i.e., May - August).
CSLP: This position has been reviewed and approved as Community Service as defined by 34 CFR 675.2(b). Per 34 CFR 675.2(b), community services are defined as, "Services which are designed to improve the quality of life for community residents, particularly low-income individuals, or to solve particular problems related to their need." These services must be open and accessible to the community.
As an FWS-CSLP approved position, its services will be offered to non-GCU community members (i.e., local residents).
Note: All FWS and FWS-CSLP positions require applicants to complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa to be reviewed for FWS-eligibility and awarded FWS.
Primary Responsibilities /Accountabilities/ Essential Functions:
1. Refurbish and maintain used bicycles (e.g., change tires, chains, etc.).
2. Power wash and detail bicycles for final inspection before being donated
3.Assist with warehouse organization and inventory management
4. Other duties as assigned

Experience/Education:
Grand Canyon University is committed to a student first policy. Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment:
  • Enrolled at GCU in a bachelor's program or master's program full-time during fall/spring or half-time during summer.
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.

Pay Rate: Minimum Wage
