Job description

Join our Team as an ESS Development Engineering Co-Op!
The Role:
We're seeking a motivated Electrical Engineering Co-Op to join our team in Summer and/or Fall 2027! This co-op hands-on experience in where you'll work on meaningful projects and gain insight into the next generation of clean energy technologies - including lithium-ion batteries, hydrogen fuel cells, industrial chargers, and hydrogen fueling stations. You'll gain hands-on experience in real-world design and testing. This is not a role where you'll just observe - you'll be solving problems, learning tools, and contributing directly to exciting projects in the energy and mobility space. You'll collaborate with the Rochester Development Center team, as well as mentors and leadership, building skills that will help launch your career!
What You'll Be Doing:
  • Assist in the design, analysis, and testing of energy storage and power conversion products.
  • Perform hands-on testing and troubleshooting in labs and on prototype vehicles.
  • Analyze system and component performance data to identify design improvements.
  • Support electrical modeling and simulation of battery systems and power electronics.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, manufacturing, and test engineers on integrated product development.
  • Participate in design reviews and present findings to multidisciplinary teams.
  • Learn and apply industry best practices, including design for manufacturability, reliability, and safety.

What We're Looking For:
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher
  • Currently enrolled in a degree program in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Software Engineering
  • Current academic year entering Junior or Senior year BS, or Master's any year
  • Available to be onsite at our Rochester, NY location in Summer 2027 and/or Fall 2027
