Job description

Job Description: The maintenance technician is responsible for the safe, proper and efficient installation, maintenance and repair of all types of all types of pumps.
Overtime and shift work may be required. Work is performed under supervision and direction from the maintenance supervisor.
Responsibilities:
  • Install, repair and maintain hydraulic assemblies
  • Perform preventive maintenance on all pumps in the field, including wellheads. This entails cleaning, packing and greasing the valve
  • Disassemble, troubleshoot, repair and reassemble pump parts to enable the pump to be reinstalled into the process
  • Set up, adjust and operate equipment in the machine shop to perform repairs of pumps
  • Coordinates with operations group and assists them by making sure the pumps work properly while in the process of the startup and shutdown of the facilities
  • Responsible for the adherence to all safety and environmental policies set forth by CalEnergy
  • Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or general education degree; minimum of two to five years related maintenance experience; or certification program or equivalent education and experience
  • Knowledge of PC software application, including spreadsheet, word processing and database
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as periodicals, regulations and piping and instrumentation diagrams
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence accurately
  • Strong oral communications, including group presentation skills
  • Basic math skills to calculate figures and amounts, including percentages, area, circumference and volume
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Problem solving skills; define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and work with both abstract and concrete variables
  • A valid driver's license is required
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently
