Job Title

Title and Registration Processor II - C

Pay Rate Min to Mid Range

Summary

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greets walk-in customers and collects and processes payments for motor vehicle registration fees or property taxes

  • Processes vehicle registration and title transfers from automobile dealerships, auto title services, lien holders and the general public

  • Transfers ownership of vehicles

  • Answers questions such as motor vehicle registration procedures and title transfers

  • Receives, issues and records registration sticker books orders received by phone from various entities such as municipalities and private sector organizations such as grocery stores, automobile dealerships and auto title services

  • Receives and reviews daily sales reports, purchase receipts and unused motor inventory from franchise dealers, grocery stores and municipalities and updates Tax Office inventory records in computer

  • Submits copies of checks received from municipalities and private sector organizations to Financial Reporting section for cash vouchers and deposits checks to the Vault section

  • Verifies and processes franchise dealer bundles and title service bundles

  • Compiles and maintains information for the Motor Vehicle Tax Assessor-Collector's hearing

  • May assist with counting and issuing daily cash boxes

  • Performs related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from High School or General Education Development (GED) certificate, and two (2) years office experience in a cash collections environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Knowledge of motor vehicle and property tax collection procedures; knowledge of basic office procedures

  • Skill in accurately collecting cash; skill in basic mathematical calculations

  • Ability to operate a personal computer, typewriter and basic office equipment; ability to accurately enter data; ability to deal with hostile or irrational people; ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other County employees, outside organizations and the general public

  • Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance

  • Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test

  • Must be able to maintain an effective attendance record/pattern

  • May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek

Working Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Working conditions are inside an office environment

  • Physical requirements include lifting/carrying 10-20 lbs. occasionally

  • Occasionally; visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate computer keyboard, 10-key adding machine, and basic office equipment. Frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information

  • Positions self to perform essential functions

  • Subject to sitting, standing, walking, twisting, reaching, pushing, pullingand bending to perform the essential functions
