Job description

JOB SUMMARY: Vibrant Ingredients seeks a self-motivated and detail-oriented Associate Scientist to support the development, organization and maintenance of the company’s product portfolio through sensory evaluation, data management, and analytical support.

Skills, Traits, & Competencies:

• Strong interest in food, beverages, flavors, and sensory science.

• Comfortable tasting a wide variety of food and beverage products on a regular basis.

• Ability to recognize, describe, and differentiate flavor characteristics and sensory attributes.

• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

• Ability to travel up to 10%

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct sensory evaluations of flavor samples, including identifying and describing flavor profiles, aromas, and key sensory attributes.

• Record, analyze, and summarize sensory data using Microsoft Access and other internal databases.

• Capable of multitasking and prioritizing projects.

• Assist with flavor categorization, benchmarking, and competitive product evaluations.

• Prepare prototype samples for internal meetings, customer presentations, and sensory evaluations.

• Collaborate with flavorists and application scientists to support flavor selection and portfolio management.

• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety procedures and quality standards.

• Support special projects and continuous improvement initiatives as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Sensory Science, or Nutrition)

• Excellent organizational and time management skills.

• Good computer software skills including MS Office (Excel, PPT, Word, etc.)

Beneficial Qualifications:

• Previous internship or work experience in a laboratory environment.

• Experience conducting or assisting with sensory panels.
