Location: Garneau Hall Seniors Community – Edmonton, Alberta

Hours: FTE 1.0 (Full-Time/Temporary)

Hourly Rate: $40 - $43 hourly

We are currently seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse to join our team in the Director of Care role based out of the diverse, active, and vibrant community of Garneau Hall in Edmonton, Alberta.

What You'll Do

  • Support care team personnel by hiring, training, scheduling, directing, and supervising staff to ensure the best possible care for residents
  • Establish and maintain great relationships with residents, family members, physicians, and other community members
  • Review and determine appropriate level of care and placement of residents
  • Adhere to site-specific admission and discharge processes and protocols
  • Ongoing audits and providing staff training to ensure compliance with audit standards
  • Process payroll for care team
  • Implement and monitor controls and safekeeping of drugs and narcotics
  • Supervise the drug administration program including the administration of medication by all registered staff
  • Work closely with the leadership to ensure organizational capabilities meet or exceed requirements regarding budget, costs, environment and health and safety regulatory compliance are met
  • Promote a culture of safety and quality care

What You Bring

  • Graduate from a recognized LPN or RN Program
  • Current membership in good standing with CARNA or CLHA
  • 2-3 years of LPN/RN experience (experience in gerontology preferred)
  • CPR/BCLS for healthcare provider required
  • Demonstrated skills in leadership, communication, teamwork, concern resolution process and customer service
  • Strong organizational and computer skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to person-centered care
  • Ability to problem solve through critical thinking
  • Enthusiastic attitude and energy to provide excellent care and service on behalf of the company

Bona-fide Requirements

  • Current and clear vulnerable sector criminal record check
  • Current and up to date immunization records
  • Physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of the position (may be required to lift, move, push, or pull objects weighing up to 20 kilograms)
  • Ability to work on his/her feet for a complete shift while constantly bending, stretching, walking, lifting, or moving things.
