GRANT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

PRINCIPAL, ELEMENTARY

The Los Angeles Unified School District seeks an outstanding principal to support the students, staff, and community at Grant Elementary School towards achieving academic success for all students.

Grant Elementary School, located in the East Hollywood region at the junction of Little Armenia and Thai Town, serves a diverse TK through 6th-grade population. Grant ES proudly hosts an Armenian/English Dual Language Program, currently available for students in kindergarten through 2nd grade. The campus also features specialized programs, including Pre-K (PALs). With an enrollment of over 450 students, the school reflects a rich tapestry of backgrounds: 68.20% Latino, 18.40% White (largely of Armenian descent), 5.20% African American, 4.20% Asian, and 3.40% Filipino. The school’s vibrant community is united by 16 diverse languages, from Spanish and Armenian to Thai and Bengali, fostering a unique multicultural environment at 1530 N. Wilton Place, Los Angeles, CA 90028.

The Ideal Candidate possesses the collaborative spirit necessary to partner with all stakeholders in implementing the collective vision for Grant Elementary School. Seeking an innovative leader dedicated to fostering a professional culture rooted in interdependence and shared responsibility. Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities are essential for maintaining a respectful rapport with their vibrant community. Strategically located near prominent media and television studios, the school needs a principal who can cultivate corporate partnerships that enrich student opportunities. The successful applicant will demonstrate deep cultural competence in serving a diverse student population. As an instructional visionary, the candidate must skillfully implement strategies across literacy and mathematics using the district’s adopted curricula, the Armenian Dual Language Program, and GATE, while advancing NGSS and technological integration for 21st-century success. Furthermore, the principal will provide expert guidance in Special Education, ensuring the effective execution of IEPs and school-wide behavioral supports. A commitment to working alongside their Parent Center to build a robust system that serves students and the broader community is paramount.

SALARY:

40G - E Basis ($123,618 - $153,961) – 234 paid days

  • For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.
  • For an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the district resolves an under or overpayment).
  • Selected individuals may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority-based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE (PUBLIC SCHOOL SETTING):
  • Eight years of successful full-time public school district certificated service
  • A minimum of threeyears of experience as a teacher in a K-12 program
  • A minimum of two years of experience in an elementary school
  • Two years of service in a position that required and utilized an administrative credential, such as assistant principal or equivalent position.

Employees who have been issued a below standard Performance Evaluation, or Notice of Unsatisfactory Act(s) and/or Suspension shall be ineligible for application to any promotion process for one calendar year following the issuance of such a Notice

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

  • A valid California teaching credential requiring a bachelor’s degree and a program of professional preparation, including student teaching
  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university District Master Plan requirements*

*Candidates have one year to complete this requirement

For all school based administrative positions, candidates must be in the appropriate LAUSD eligible pool for the position or currently serving in the class for which they are applying. In order to be placed in the eligible pool, candidates must successfully complete the appropriate LAUSD Aspiring Administrator Program. Qualified applicants not in an eligible pool from within or outside LAUSD may be considered if fewer than five applicants from the eligible pool apply for the position.
