Job description

Benchmarking Analyst collaborates with program management, functional engineering, weight, marketing, and VEV teams to identify full vehicle, system and commodity key performance indicators to be benchmarked. We work with teams to Identify key areas where engineering analysis and benchmarking information is required (i.e., platform analysis, ADAS, ICE, BEV, emerging technologies) and utilize 6 Sigma and statistical analysis methods to analyze and interpret benchmark data; deliver valuable and actionable in-depth strategic analysis of teardown properties and communicate results to our โ€œcustomersโ€. TVM or cost savings experience is desired to support this role.

This role will include comparing parts/sub-systems/systems to identify from a cost perspective, design gaps, propose solution sets to bridge the gaps and work with the functional teams to process these ideas.

  • Work with teams to select teardown properties to support corporate cycle plan and priorities
  • Align with core engineering and commodity technical leads to identify โ€œgapsโ€ in benchmark data/information
  • Work with teams to Identify key areas where engineering analysis and benchmarking information is required (i.e., platform analysis, ADAS, ICE, BEV, emerging technologies)
  • Collaborate with program management, functional engineering, weight, marketing, VEV teams to identify full vehicle, system and commodity key performance indicators to be benchmarked
  • Use 6 Sigma and statistical analysis methods to analyze and interpret benchmark data; deliver valuable and actionable in-depth strategic analysis of teardown properties and communicate results to their โ€œcustomersโ€
  • Develop and utilize โ€œstandardโ€ engineering analysis reports to be conducted on all full vehicle teardowns
  • Identify full vehicle/system/commodity test plan to be conducted on teardown properties, coordinate with teardown team
  • Review competitive intelligence database, as well as external and internal competitive vehicle evaluation publications to determine future vehicle trends
  • High level understanding of cost and quality features that drive full vehicle and system engineering efficiencies
  • Plan, lead and execute workshops requested by Benchmark Engineering โ€œcustomersโ€
  • Support ad-hoc requests for benchmark data information/reports
  • Provide FACTS, Iceberg, Auto Knowledge, Marketlines Competitive Database etcโ€ฆ and benchmarking training as required
  • Work collaboratively with A2MAC1, Caresoft , Munro and other external Ford partners to benchmark properties and perform idea generation
  • Support market alignment studies for specific Ford and competitive vehicle sets

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • 2+ years of benchmarking or design and release experience
  • 2+ years of cross commodity experience
  • Interior experience preferred
  • Tooling or Cost Estimating experience
  • Fluent in the use of CAD
  • 6-Sigma methods and statistical analysis
  • Ability to develop concise presentations and deliver findings to engineering and senior level management
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and customers

This position is a salary grade 5-8 and ranges from $65,100-$166,200. Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
