UCT is looking for a talented Assembly Technician IV to join us in Hayward, CA!

The Technician IV performs advanced mechanical assemblies, testing, and troubleshooting to support efficient and highquality production. This role interprets work instructions, operates hand and power tools, and ensures compliance with quality and 5S standards throughout the assembly process. By communicating effectively with team members and resolving complex issues, the Technician IV contributes to reliable product performance and continuous improvement on the production floor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Performs basic mechanical assemblies & sub-assemblies.
  • Operates hand and power tools to complete assemblies.
  • Reads and interprets work instructions to ensure accuracy of work performed.
  • Interacts with management and team members to encourage effective communication on production floor.
  • Performs standard testing and minor and major troubleshooting.
  • Ensures quality standards are met throughout all steps of the assembly process.
  • Works with 5S & Visual Controls.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Attendance is an essential job function.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  

  • Proficient in advanced assembly, general inspection and troubleshooting of electro-mechanical systems.
  • Advanced Mechanical background with strong knowledge of historical and current assemblies and manufacturing practices.
  • Ability to read assembly prints and electrical schematics, and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of cable routing, harness configuration, soldering, wiring & crimping standards.
  • General knowledge of operating hand tools, portable power tools, and bench tools.
  • Basic GD&T knowledge a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, quality focused and a quick learner.
  • Excellent communication skills.  Ability to effectively communicate to both internal and external contacts.
  • Advanced computer skills and proficient with running reports from MRP and quality databases.

Educational/Certification Requirement:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Some technician coursework and/or AA technical degree or equivalent experience.

 Work Experience: 

  • 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing/cleanroom environment or a combination of education and experience required.
  • Experience in helium leak testing, module/ sub-assembly testing, and inspection preferred.

  • Ability to talk on phone and use computer for extended periods of time may be required.
  • Ability to use a ladder comfortably.

 Environmental Exposure:

  • Subject to hazards including electrical current, moving mechanical parts, exposure to chemicals and debris.
  • Subject to noise levels.

 Overnight Travel:

  • Work may require out of town travel depending upon assignment (training and meeting).

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $26.20 and $39.38/hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, includingvariable pay and discretionary awardsin addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO (Paid Time Off) and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
