Job description

Overview

Job Description - Network Integration Modeling - Lead Engineer (334767)

We’re more than aviation experts, we’re pioneers. We challenge what’s possible. From breaking the sound barrier to advanced tiltrotor systems. Today, Bell is shaping the future of aviation through specialized engineering. And we want you.

The Future Long Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) is the Premier Vertical Lift military program in the world. Bell's FLRAA aircraft will become the Army's primary assault aircraft for the next 30 years, sunsetting UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters and advancing the Army's assault capabilities. The Bell FLRAA team seeks the top engineering talents from around the industry to design, develop, and deliver the world’s next-generation military aircraft.

Core Avionics (IPT), Network Integration Modeling - Lead Engineer

Within the FLRAA Core Avionics Integrated Product Team (IPT), the Network Integration Modeling Lead Engineer is responsible for design, modeling and integrating the data architecture in models for the FLRAA program. The models are used by the aircraft flight computers to manage and share data across the aircraft digital backbone.

Developing, creating and leading aircraft network interface models is the primary responsibility including software configuration, hardware configurations, and system interfaces. Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) is an avionics system architecture that replaces multiple, separate processors and line replaceable units (LRUs) with fewer, more centralized processing units. This approach leads to weight reduction and cost savings, making it a popular choice in modern aircraft, including FLRAA.

Responsibilities
  • SysML Modeling in MagicDraw/Cameo.
  • Developing, creating, and leading Aircraft Network, health awareness, and compute configurations.
  • Leading team members in the development of incremental lab and flight test Network Integration Models.
  • Working with program IPTs and Suppliers to iterate on data design.
  • Working with suppliers on network integration tooling development.
  • Utilize data/functional architecture models to integrate software and hardware.
  • Validate and verify system data paths.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system integration/verification issues.
  • Coordinate with Internal and External IPTs, suppliers, and peers to generate and execute projects/design plans and reviews.
  • Manage and coordinate issues, problem reports and change requests to closure.
  • Coordinate design changes and deliveries with Safety, Security and Certification organizations.
  • Ensure timely delivery of systems data, systems requirements, integrated validation/verification activities, and issue resolution.
  • Escalate issues that need additional engineering or business leadership assistance in a timely manner.
What you bring to this role
  • Experience with MBSE tools (such as CAMEO Magic Draw) and CM tools (such as 3DX and Enovia)
  • Reporting and tracking of earned value/metrics.
  • Experience in creating integrated schedules
  • Experience working in an embedded SIL or Avionics Lab environment.
  • Able to communicate directly with senior leadership inside and outside the company.
  • Self-motivated and able to track and report performance to cost and schedule.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Experience working with ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, CAN, AFDX and or TSN is a plus
  • Experience with Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE) is a plus
What you need to be successful
  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science is required. Mechanical or Other Engineering degrees may be considered with applicable experience.
  • At least 10 years of experience creating aircraft network interface models including software, hardware and system interfaces.
  • Experience in developing experience managing or designing with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Experience leading teams to completion of projects.
  • Ability to gain and maintain US Secret Clearance
What we offer you in return
  • You’ll be off every other Friday with our 9/80 work schedule
  • 80 hours of Personal Time Off (PTO)
  • 120 hours Vacation time
  • 12-13 paid holidays per year
  • 6 weeks parental leave
  • On-site clinic, pharmacy, physical therapy, and licensed counselor
  • Access to more than 11 Employee Resource Groups
  • And so much more

It’s time to make your mark on the future of aviation. Join us on this mission, and let’s make history together.

We are on a journey to amplify innovation, cultivate purpose and bridge experiences by fostering a culture that is driven by unique perspectives, voices and values.
