Job description

Company Description

CS Group Canada, a subsidiary of CS Group (part of the Sopra Steria Group), is a leader in the development and certification of safety-critical systems in the aerospace, electric, and autonomous driving industries.

Joining CS Group Canada means taking part in complex, high-tech projects for some of the most prestigious system manufacturers in North America, while benefiting from competitive salaries, comprehensive benefits, and flexible work arrangements.

Job Description

Support the validation and continuous refinement of performance requirements, safety thresholds, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for autonomous driving systems through large-scale simulation and real-world data analysis.

The engineer will leverage simulation, data analytics, and software development to quantify and refine performance, behavioral, and technical requirements necessary to achieve system safety. The role focuses on safety requirements quantification, including latency budgets, safety mechanism thresholds, and checker maturation parameters, while developing and maintaining simulation and analysis tools, and supporting scalable safety validation activities.

Key Responsibilities

Simulation Development & Scenario Execution

  • Develop and maintain simulation tooling in C/C++ and Python to support large-scale autonomous driving validation activities.
  • Design interfaces and integrations between internal validation tools, simulation environments, and data processing frameworks.
  • Extend existing simulation scenarios to inject perception noise, latency, and failure conditions to characterize system robustness.
  • Support containerized development and deployment environments using Docker and Linux-based infrastructure.
  • Use simulation results to support the definition and refinement of subsystem performance requirements and safety thresholds.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of safety mechanisms under degraded system performance conditions.

Data Analytics & Performance Evaluation

  • Develop and maintain Python- and C/C++-based analysis and simulation pipelines to process, visualize, and evaluate large-scale driving and simulation datasets.
  • Investigate scenarios where unsafe behavior occurs despite performance targets being met and provide data-driven recommendations for improving metrics, thresholds, or requirements.

  • Determine characterization data and quantify system performance against KPIs, SPIs, safety targets, and behavior requirements.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.

Experience

  • Experience with validating and quantifying performance criteria for autonomous driving functions such as:
    • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
    • Lane Centering
    • Automated Lane Change
    • Highway Driving Assist
    • Automated Driving / ADS functions
  • Experience analyzing autonomous driving datasets and vehicle performance data.
  • Experience developing production-quality software in C/C++ and/or Python, including tool development, automation, and system integration activities.
  • Experience with Linux-based development environments.
