A behavioral psychologist works with patients that have behavioral health issues such as substance abuse, depression, bipolar disorder, and similar psychological issues. In this career, you use a variety of methods and techniques to assist the patient in effectively altering their behavior patterns over time. Your job duties include conducting interview sessions with patients, diagnosing behavioral health issues, and developing treatment plans based on that diagnosis. The types of treatment plans that are available include continuous therapy sessions, hypnosis, and the prescribing of medicines such as antidepressants. You may work with adults, children, or both.
