Interns often work directly with clients, observe sessions, and participate in team meetings to discuss progress and strategies. To thrive as a Behavior Intern, you typically need a background in psychology or education, familiarity with behavioral intervention strategies, and enrollment in or completion of relevant coursework. Strong observational skills, patience, and effective communication help build rapport with clients and support team collaboration. These competencies are crucial for accurately implementing interventions, ensuring client safety, and contributing positively to behavioral outcomes.

What are Behavior Interns?

Behavior Interns are individuals, often graduate students, who are gaining hands-on experience in the field of applied behavior analysis (ABA) or a related discipline. They work under the supervision of a certified behavior analyst or licensed professional to develop and implement behavioral interventions, collect data, and assist in designing treatment plans for clients, often with developmental or behavioral disorders. This internship is typically a requirement for certification and provides practical training in assessment, therapy, and ethical practice. Behavior Interns also learn to collaborate with families, educators, and multidisciplinary teams to support clients’ progress.
