Job description

Objective: Deliver quality pigs in a safe environment that meets the expectations of TQA, our shareholders, and producers. Provide a favorable environment for the livestock being transported for our company.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Complete a pre-trip check to ensure the safety of the vehicle and trailer
  • Loading and unloading wean pigs and cull sows
  • Provide a comfortable environment for livestock, apply adequate bedding while in transport
  • Safe operation of semi and trailer
  • TQA certification
  • Comply with Pipestone's biosecurity procedures
  • Comply with DOT standards for logbooks and adequate logs for billing purposes

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS

  • Adjust ventilation as needed in the trailers for maximum livestock comfort
  • Removal or adding of decking in the trailers to ensure proper space and comfort
  • Dry clean bedding out of the trailer at the end of the day
  • Some overnight travel could be required to comply with DOT standards

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
Education:
High School education or equivalent
Experience:
Experience in hauling livestock preferred but not required. Training will be provided
WorkEnvironment:
Operation of a semi-tractor trailer combination during all seasons and times of the day
Loading and unloading animals from within the trailer
Noise levels that could require hearing protection in some areas
PhysicalRequirements:
Standing, walking and going up and down ramps safely
Frequent bending, reaching, squatting and kneeling
Frequent use of one or both hands/arms to grasp or pull
Frequent lifting of objects weighing 3-20 pounds
Occasional bending while pulling and/or lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds, or requiring up to 50 pounds of force to move
Occasional bending while pulling and/or lifting objects weighing up to 100 pounds or requiring up to 100 pounds of force to move with the assistance of another person as needed
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Ability to attend and participate in meetings of various lengths
AdditionalRequirements:
Must possess and maintain a valid Class A CDL
Must be able to work weekends as needed
Must have reliable transportation to get to work
Compensation/Benefits:
