Job description

About High Scale
We're High Scale - a future-focused, data-obsessed agency revolutionizing video advertising on TV and social media. Think Amazon's obsession with customer experience meets SpaceX's fearless ambition-that's the DNA behind everything we do.
Our 120-person team of creatives, strategists, and innovators produces thousands of high-impact campaigns weekly for the world's leading lifestyle, fashion, beauty, and DTC brands. With 50,000 sq. ft. of DTLA studios and a global influencer network, we're ready to 10x our output in 2026-and we need a Marketing Copywriter who understands the psychology of persuasion and can write scripts that convert viewers into customers.
Why This Role Matters
Words are the engine of revenue. As a Marketing Copywriter, you are the voice behind our visuals. You aren't just writing "catchy slogans"; you are engineering scripts and ad copy designed to stop the scroll, agitate pain points, and drive immediate action.
In a world of short attention spans, your ability to write a "hook" that grabs attention in the first 3 seconds is just as important as the video edit itself. If you love behavioral psychology, direct response marketing, and seeing your words generate millions in sales, this is your launchpad.
What You'll Do
  1. Write High-Converting Video Scripts
    • Craft direct-response scripts for UGC creators, actors, and voice-over artists.
    • Structure scripts around proven performance frameworks (e.g., Hook → Problem → Agitation → Solution → Social Proof → CTA).
    • Write specific visual notes alongside dialogue to guide editors and producers on the creative vision.
  2. Develop Creative Concepts & Angles
    • Research client products, competitors, and customer reviews to find unique "angles" (e.g., "The scientific approach to acne" vs. "The morning routine aesthetic").
    • Brainstorm varied hook concepts to test what grabs attention best (e.g., Shocking Statement vs. ASMR Visual).
  3. Write Ad Copy & Headlines
    • Produce punchy primary text, headlines, and descriptions for Meta (Facebook/Instagram), TikTok, and YouTube ads.
    • Ensure the tone of voice matches the specific brand persona-from edgy and humorous to clinical and trustworthy.
  4. Iterate Based on Data
    • Review performance data with the Strategy team. If a script has a high drop-off rate, rewrite the middle section. If the CTR is low, rewrite the hook.
    • Refresh successful winning ads with new script variations to combat creative fatigue.

Who You Are
  1. A Direct Response Specialist
    • 2-4 years of experience in copywriting, specifically for DTC brands, e-commerce, or performance marketing agencies.
    • You understand the difference between "brand writing" (building feelings) and "direct response writing" (driving sales).
  2. Master of the "Hook"
    • You know how to grab attention instantly. You understand that if you don't win the first 3 seconds, the rest of the script doesn't matter.
    • You are concise. You can say more with fewer words.
  3. Psychologically Driven
    • You understand human desires and objections. You know how to weave social proof and urgency into a script naturally.
  4. Adaptable Voice
    • You can switch seamlessly between writing for a Gen Z skincare brand (slang, casual, fast) and a luxury home goods brand (elevated, descriptive, smooth).
  5. Native-Level English Proficiency
    • Perfect grammar and command of American English idioms/slang is required. You must understand the nuances of culture to write effective ads.

Perks & Benefits
  • Competitive Compensation: $40,000-$70,000/year
  • Growth Opportunities: Influence the creative strategy of major global brands and grow into a Creative Strategist or Lead Copywriter role.
  • Relentless Innovation Culture: Move fast, test constantly, and collaborate with some of the most creative minds in social media and video production.

High Scale is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We celebrate diversity and believe it's key to building teams that change the world-one winning script at a time.
