About Us

We are a global climate technologies company engineered for sustainability. We create sustainable and efficient residential, commercial and industrial spaces through HVACR technologies. We protect temperature-sensitive goods throughout the cold chain. And we bring comfort to people globally. Best-in-class engineering, design and manufacturing combined with category-leading brands in compression, controls, software and monitoring solutions result in next-generation climate technology that is built for the needs of the world ahead.

Whether you are a professional looking for a career change, an undergraduate student exploring your first opportunity, or recent graduate with an advanced degree, we have opportunities that will allow you to innovate, be challenged and make an impact. Join our team and start your journey today!

A Rotor-dynamic and Seal Design Engineer is a specialized mechanical engineering role focused on the analysis, design, and optimization of high-speed rotating machinery (turbomachinery) to ensure stability, reliability, and efficiency. They are responsible for modeling how rotors, bearings, and seals behave under operating conditions to prevent mechanical failure, such as vibration, imbalance, and resonance.

Core Responsibilities

  • Rotordynamic Modeling & Analysis: Conduct lateral, torsional, and axial vibration studies, including critical speed maps and Campbell diagrams.

  • Seal Design & Performance: Design and validate dynamic seal concepts (e.g., labyrinth seals, brush seals, face contact seals) based on performance, wear, and leakage criteria.

  • Bearing Selection & Analysis: Evaluate and optimize bearing performance (fluid film, rolling element, or magnetic) to manage stiffness, damping, and power loss.

  • Design Validation & Testing: Correlate analytical predictions with test data and support testing (flight, ground, or lab) for model validation.

  • Root Cause Analysis: Investigate machinery failures and propose corrective actions.

  • Technical Documentation: Prepare technical reports, design documentation, and API-compliant technical specifications.

Key Skills and Technical Proficiencies

  • Software: Proficiency in simulation tools like AxSTREAM, XLROTOR, Matlab, ANSYS, or specialized seal analysis software.

  • Engineering Principles: Strong understanding of rotordynamics, tribology, finite element analysis (FEA), and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).

  • Design Standards: Experience with industry standards, such as API 617, API 684, and API 610.

  • System Knowledge: Deep understanding of bearing technologies and rotor-bearing-seal interactions.

Qualifications

  • Education: Master's degree or Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.

  • Experience: Generally requires 4+ years of experience in rotor-dynamics, bearing design, or high-performance turbomachinery
