NTN is one of the world's premier bearing manufacturers serving the automotive and industrial markets for the past 100 years. NTN has an immediate opening in our Sales Department for an OEM Sales Engineer for our NTN Automotive Center located in Farmington Hill, MI.
Major Responsibilities:
  • Pursue and secure new OEM business opportunities. Respond promptly to inquiries and seek out and calls upon potential and existing customers to identify needs. Pursue all avenues for technical requirements for new product development.
  • Oversee the management of new program launches. Direct communications with all internal and external customers on timing, program needs, concerns, and requirements.
  • Take the lead role for APQP meetings and be knowledgeable for all program aspects. Negotiate sample delivery, timing, and cost.
  • Manage current business for assigned accounts. Ensure products meet customer requirements, are shipped on time and that NTN meets specific customer performance standards.
  • Communicate in a timely manner all significant customer issues to appropriate personnel. Maintain timely and accurate records on customer calls and meetings.
  • Provide management with verbal briefs and written reports of customer needs, problems, interests, market situations, competitive activities, new articles and any potential for new business and services.
  • Negotiate and support Tariff recovery.

Skills/Requirements:
  • 4-year undergraduate engineering or business degree (BSME, IE or Applied Engineering Sciences/ multi-discipline degree preferred).
  • Desire 1-3 years of experience in direct OEM automotive sales (GM, Subaru, Mercedes, etc.). Similar experience in engineering would be a serious consideration for an internal NTN candidate.
  • Technical skills must include: A fundamental understanding of automotive powertrain or drivetrain system and knowledge and application of appropriate industry standards.
  • Leadership capabilities - Ability to function and lead in a team environment.
  • Understands how Development Engineering fits in the manufacturing business (Quality, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Sales, Marketing)
  • Creativity & Independent thinking, Project Management Skills and Experience
  • Knowledge of basic APQP concepts and IATF16949 requirements
