Bcba Assessment information

What is a bcba assessment?

A BCBA Assessment job involves conducting behavioral assessments to analyze and understand a client's needs, typically individuals with autism or developmental disabilities. Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) use evidence-based tools, direct observations, and caregiver interviews to develop effective treatment plans. They assess behaviors, identify potential triggers, and create intervention strategies to improve clients' daily functioning. This role is essential in ensuring personalized and effective Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy plans.

What are some typical responsibilities of a bcba assessment professional during a workweek?

A BCBA Assessment professional typically spends their week conducting behavioral assessments, collecting and analyzing data, and developing individualized intervention plans for clients. They also collaborate closely with families, therapists, and other professionals to ensure interventions are implemented effectively and consistently. In addition to direct assessment work, BCBAs often provide training and supervision to support staff, monitor client progress, and participate in team meetings to review and adjust treatment plans as needed. This dynamic role offers a mix of client interaction, data-driven problem-solving, and team collaboration.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the bcba assessment position, and why are they important?

To thrive in a BCBA Assessment role, you need expertise in applied behavior analysis, assessment methodologies, and a graduate degree in behavior analysis or a related field, with BCBA certification being essential. Familiarity with assessment tools such as the VB-MAPP, ABLLS-R, and data collection software is required. Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills enable you to work effectively with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams. These skills are crucial for developing accurate behavioral assessments and tailored intervention plans that improve client outcomes.

Advanceable ABA provides in-home ABA therapy, with services also delivered in school, daycare, and community settings when appropriate. Our assessment process is designed to be clinically thoughtful, family-centered, and aligned with payer and state requirements.

  • Strong clinical mentorship and leadership support

  • Hybrid flexibility when clinically appropriate and permitted by Medicaid, payer, and state requirements

  • Collaboration with clinical leadership and internal team members

  • A growing team culture where your input is valued

What You’ll Do

As a part-time Assessing BCBA with Advanceable ABA, you’ll help families begin ABA services with clear clinical direction and thoughtful recommendations.

You’ll get to:

Conduct Assessments: Complete initial ABA assessments for children with autism and developmental disabilities.

Gather Meaningful Information: Use caregiver interview, observation, record review, assessment tools, and clinical judgment to understand each child’s needs.

Create Treatment Recommendations: Develop individualized treatment recommendations based on the child’s strengths, needs, family priorities, and medically necessary service level.

Complete Assessment Reports: Write clear, thorough, and timely assessment documentation that supports clinical quality and payer requirements.

Collaborate With the Team: Work with clinical leadership and internal team members to support a smooth handoff from assessment to treatment planning.

Maintain Clinical Quality: Ensure assessments are completed with professionalism, accuracy, and attention to each child’s unique needs.

You should have:

  • Current BCBA certification required

  • Virginia LBA required, or willingness to obtain before starting services

  • Advanceable ABA reimburses the cost of obtaining the Virginia LBA

  • 1+ years of ABA experience preferred
