Arrow is a diversified transportation, logistics, and materials handling company with operations throughout Canada and the U.S. Arrow is a leader in Reload Operations, partnering with Class 1 railways in the U.S. to inventory and transfer product between truck, rail and container shipping to for delivery to satisfied customers.
We are looking for an experienced Heavy-Duty Forklift Operator to join our reload team in North Houston, TX.

Responsibilities
  • Operate high capacity forklifts (up to 25,000lbs)
  • Loading and unloading lumber, steel and engineered wood products from trucks, railcars or containers
  • Secure commodities on railcars using appropriate rigging, tie-downs, and safety procedures to prevent shifting during transit
  • Work at heights while inspecting, loading, and securing freight, following all fall protection and safety regulations
  • Support inventory control (inbound/outbound/on ground) and accurately document
  • Ability to prepare load plans for railcar, truck and/or container
  • Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment
  • Assist with general yard clean up/maintenance
  • Assist with cleaning of equipment, cutting steel banding for package securement, and monitoring disposal of items
  • Inspect and verify product condition to ensure cleanliness and compliance with loading procedures
  • Work in adherence to all safe work practices, procedures, as well as all regulatory requirements
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew
  • May be asked to travel to other transload terminals to assist if necessary
  • Other duties as instructed by supervisor
You Possess
  • A minimum of 2 years relevant forklift and/or other transload equipment experience
  • Knowledge and experience working in the lumber or transload industry is an asset
  • Experience loading and unloading commodities from trucks or railcars is an asset
  • Previous experience operating high capacity forklifts (25,000 lbs) is an asset
  • Previous experience loading and unloading commodities from trucks or railcars is an asset
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions (snow, rain, sub-freezing temps, heat, wind)
  • Comfortable working at heights exceeding 10 feet, using fall protection equipment
  • A positive attitude
  • Solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
